An independent research foundation focused on market structure, cycles, expectations, and probabilistic interpretation. Mission, governance, and how to engage with the foundation’s work.
Back to homeThe MCO Foundation is an independent research foundation operating in the United Kingdom, focused on the systematic study of market structure, cycles, collective expectations, probabilistic reasoning, and the integration of these layers into honest analysis under uncertainty. The foundation’s commitment is to make the methods of careful market analysis a public capability rather than a professional monopoly.
For the foundation’s own articulation of its position and method, read the Foundation Statement. For the methodological position in depth, see the Library.
The foundation publishes its work openly across three modes of research:
Long-form concept primers presenting the foundation’s settled methodology. Five research domains, each treated in a dedicated paper, plus the meta-framework that integrates them. Reading time per primer: around fifteen minutes. Updated rarely.
Shorter observations, hypotheses, and conceptual sketches from the ongoing research practice. Working notes rather than settled positions. Dated and may be revised. The lived thinking of a research foundation.
Interactive learning modules and visual research tools. The foundation’s methodology made tangible through engagement rather than only through reading. Built as a long-term commitment to hands-on understanding.
All foundation research is freely accessible. There is no paywall on any of the foundation’s published work.
The MCO Foundation is a charitable company limited by guarantee, incorporated in England and Wales on 6 May 2025 under Companies House number 16431727. Application to the Charity Commission for England and Wales for registration as a charity is pending.
The foundation operates under articles of association restricting its objects to the advancement of public education. No surplus funds are distributed to members or directors. Trustees serve without remuneration. For legal notices and privacy information, see the Legal & Privacy page.
For first-time readers, the recommended entry point is the Foundation Statement. It presents in plain terms what the foundation is and what it does.
For the methodological position, read On the Relational Market Framework next. The remaining concept primers go deeper into each of the five research domains.
For shorter pieces and current research observations, see Notes. For interactive learning modules, see Studies (in development).
